I would guess then that the reason he doesn't use it, is that there was (is?) a journo and sometimes 80's game show host called Julian Pettifer.

Isn't there some sort of rule with the actors guild or registry that you have to distinguish yourself from anyone else that is registered as a performer with the same name? I believe it's also the reason David Tennant registered himself as such because there was already a David MacDonald.

Very nice avatar Dais.....I love a man who can give good eyebrow.....

My favourite character is the Hitchhiker....and maybe a bit of Tony Harrison.

My least favourite chacter is the Moon. Maybe I'm missing something.

Yep, there is that rule with Equity, the actor's union over here. Not altogether sure if that's the reason that Barratt doesn't use it though, as the orginial Pettifer wasn't an actor, it could just be he didn't want to be mistaken for him.

The Moon sort of splits people down the middle. You either love him or don't get him. I am on the former because he's such a simple guy and yet there's something slightly sinister behind his chalky white face. Like if he wasn't just a cratered celestial body floating in the sky he'd be dangerous.

EDIT: Finished Boosh crimp product below! :D

OMG! that crimp is AWESOME! it aint nerdy! but if it is, then i am all over it!!! LOL!
Yeah i aint really into the MOON either you guys... i guess it's more a european thing. i don't HATE the moon but i have not warmed up to his character yet....
ha ha! Tony Harrison is great! LOL!
and the Hitcher...ok, now i LOVE the TV version of the Hitcher but the STAGE version of the Hitcher is too rape-y and offensive for me which is how i guess people are supposed to feel about him. They couldn't get away with a lot of the stuff on the tele so they pumped him up for the stage show.

FINISHED SUBMITTED CRIMP! YUS!

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QDD6q0Yy6tw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QDD6q0Yy6tw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

And as far as the characters, The Hitcher does nothing for me. I can take or leave Tony Harrison, but I do genuinely like the Moon. Julian's characters always seem to have more depth and I love that sometimes it takes me a while to realise its Julian underneath the make-up/costume.

That video's great!!
And I agree with you wholeheartedly - though I rather like The Hitcher, too.

Proof that stealing ideas isn't only done by American writers.

Oh god, yeah I heard all about that on the Boosh board. Low down and dirty crimping, indeed.

Shameless, they are!

Cheeky Vixen says:
back, sir
Why so serious? says:
you can't call people sir, that's my thing, sir!
Cheeky Vixen says:
I call people, sir, sir
Why so serious? says:
you don't call them sir no more, sir.
Cheeky Vixen says:
are you challenging me, sir?
Why so serious? says:
oh I think I might be, sir.
Cheeky Vixen says:
well, sir, this is a sir-off you won't win, sir!
Why so serious? says:
Oh, but I WILL win a sir-off, sir. I'll be giving you sirage you won't forget in a hurry, sir. Owwww, chicka-chicka!
Cheeky Vixen says:
Comin' atcha like a beam, like a buzzard, swoopin' about
Why so serious? says:
like a weasel, like a freight train, cutting through the night like an alien butter knife

Me and Ilana are insane.
