The poor SotD thread was really near dead, so why don't y'all grab your Shaun DVD's and gather the family around for a screening. I did.

My Uncle, 35: "The scene in the bar was too long... (when in the bar...?)" Prefers Hot Fuzz...

Cousin's Boyfriend, 30: "Yeah, I fell asleep in that bar scene..." Appreciates the use of swearing...

Female Cousin, 30: "Why are they walking so slow?" *ugh*

Male Cousin, 17: "Is that what everyone's going on about? (just me really...)"

Female Friend 1, 15: "*strange yawning and stretching noises* Awww...it's alright..." Prefers Hot Fuzz, although hardly picked up a joke in either...

Female Friend 2, 15: "That was sooo cool! *other exclamations and quoting of quotes*" Watched Hot Fuzz and couldn't make up mind over which was better.

Drama Teacher:"Once I got over the absurb language I really thought it was amazing." Appreciated techniques of the movie that is of course, the camera work...Will watch Hot Fuzz soon.

Also went to an All Nighter at a church and brought Shaun, showed it to a youth group on a big projector, best reception I'd ever seen! Especially the ones that got alot of jokes and sang Queen at the end of it.

What experiences has everyone else had?

My mum got scared then she freaked because there were shadows moving on the frosted glass next to my front door!
It was only trees blowing in the wind but I guess she decided it must be zombies. hahaha

I thought she kind of liked it but then when I mentioned it later she said "Well, I wouldn't say I liked it"

She didn't like Hot Fuzz at all. Thought it was too violent.
*ETA* She liked Spaced a lot though

My brother LOVED SOD . . he was actually the one who introduced me to it and teh Pegg.

My husband enjoyed both SOD and Hot Fuzz alot . . but leans more towards Hot Fuzz as a favorite.

Tim: I know, I’d look like a twat in a jumpsuit.
Daisy: Don’t say that, Tim. That’s a word that hates women.
Tim: What, twat?
Daisy: No, jumpsuit.

My brother and I first saw Shaun of the Dead while all our friends were asleep. We were so blown away that we watched it again with the zomb-o-meter on. He has his own copy of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, even though we live in the same house. I think he would get his own copy of Spaced too, but he's not willing to buy a dvd from an outside region.

My dad thought that Hot Fuzz was funny, but other than that my parents have no interest. My best friend fell asleep during Shaun of the Dead and said that Hot Fuzz made her dizzy.

I hate it when they do that! :( Annnnddd... I'm yet to stumble across the zomb-o-meter, sadly, will put it on my list of things to buy. I held out for the region 4 Hot Fuzz 2 disc... but I felt really annoyed and deprieved for a while.

What is it with Hot Fuzz and men? :|

My mom got her first taste of Shaun when she stumbled in on Pete's F'in rant  and so she was completely turned off the idea of ever watching it.

My Mum didn't like SOTD (coz of all the swearing & gore) but really enjoyed Hot Fuzz.

My sister loves SOTD (which she has on DVD) & likes Hot Fuzz.

My Dad liked both enough to buy a special twin-pack set of both movies together.

My 13 year old niece loves both movies, but especially SOTD.

My brother really likes both movies & has them on DVD.

Feel the love.

Well I won't argue that it was a no-holds-barred adrenaline-fuelled thrill-ride, but there's no way you could perpetrate that amount of carnage & mayhem & not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.

My Mom just - walking in on the kricket bat/shovel-head bashing in the backyard-scene - said something about "no wonder there's so much violence in the world if kids watch this", I answered something about her living in the fairytale world of romantic comedies and not getting irony... You know, the usual mother-daughter conversation :D

My best friend was a VERY grateful receiver of my standard HF and SOTD-DVDs once I got the special editions.

I watched both movies with numerous friends - sometimes their reactions really blow me away.

There were the ones who loved SOTD and were disappointed with HF because it was so "different". A couple of my friends don't trust my judgement anymore after I talked them into watching HF.
And then there are those who generally don't like Horror or action movies and instantly loved both...
Go figure.

Trent really likes SotD. He likes HF too but I think he likes SotD better.
And he likes Spaced best of all (as do I)
But then he was the one who got me onto Spaced in the first place!

I bothered my parent to watch HF, they laughed and recognized some of the actors, they weren't as amused as me but I think generally they liked it. (honestly I don't try to show them Shaun... it's not their gendre ;) )

And I watched Shaun with two of my best friends, one almost killed my ear (well she's really good in screaming.. and I sat next to her... ouch... and later I showed her some pictures of HF first she did't recognized Simon Pegg as Angel but than she said "Oh he looks there better!") and the other found it really funny
I watched with her HF some time later and guess she likedd it but she said that she liked Shaun more
and my other screamy friend... yeah she is going to see HF too, she promised ^^ *heehee*

with another friends I watched first HF and then SotD and had a great time they enjoyed it very much =)
