The whole Simon Pegg and Comic-Con Princess Leia issue....What can I say...It is simple, and coming from a woman's point of view....No one made any of those women dress in that costume, and no one forced them to be on photos. When we dress that way, we all know we will get some sort of attention from men, Both good and bad. The whole purpose for Comic-Con is for everyone to have fun and enjoy being around others that share the same interests as we do. It's Comic-Con! It's all about fantasy and if you are there dressed in a bikini, you are going to have to be ready for the men to be looking at you. Enjoy it, how many years do you think we have left to wear some thing like that  ....As for Simon, give the guy a break, we all may say some thing that will be taken wrong to some one, and we may respond hot headed when we are not understood. So what if he has thoughts of Princess Leia in her bikini, do we all admit what we fantasize about ? At least he is always himself and honest. That is one, of many reasons I like Simon Pegg. The thing that I am sure we would all find interesting, is the people who too offence to what he wrote, most likely have said worse things then Simon's comments. Relax and just enjoy life everyone, no need to be stressed so much! :D

(this is not directed to anyone specific, just venting about my opinion towards Simon's comments and from the articles I have read)

I notice how a lot of people tend to want to not use the word "feminist" to describe themselves, thinking that it's the equivalent of saying humorless, man hatin' jerkwad. From what I've understood of the term, it just means that you feel that women should be treated equally with the same rights as men. That's it. That's why I call myself a feminist. I don't think that one gender is better than the other and I personally prefer to look at people as individuals.

As far as the whole Slave Leia photo Twitter calamity, I may be repeating something someone already said...if so, forgive me.... But, when the person who originally went off about it, she claimed that "women are not decoration!". In that particular photo, the women posing might be doctors, artists, astrophysicists, professors, hot air balloonists, whatever.... But, in that photo, they were decoration. That was the point. Willing, adult women posing in costumes to attract attention.

If you're a male that finds women attractive, you'll probably enjoy looking....or maybe not.....Slave Leia isn't everyone's thing, after all. But, if a person does look, hopefully it will be done with some sort of decorum, rather than leering with unblinking eyes for twenty seven minutes or yelping like a hyena (which is just a reflection on the guy anyway).

Anyway, it's not really any more complicated than that. Women can be decoration sometimes - just like men. Being an attractive "decoration" is not horrible, but it's not good if that's all that the person is capable of being....

Personally, being a fan of equality with this sort of stuff, I'd like to see more attractive men posing in costumes. It does get to be over-the-top with how much it's always half-naked women on display and I definitely see people's point with that. It would be nice to even the playing field with that a bit more. And I'd personally like to see more Trinity costumes, which is one of my favorite character's from a movie, rather than Slave Leia costumes.

I didn't wanted to feed the subject but I just want to say :

- Thanks Peggstest of the Peggster :worship: for the full explanation (I had followed it from far away on Twitter, incredibly amazed by how people can exacerbate a humorous word  )

- I've had bad experience myself (on a smallest level) of a misunderstanding in an email exchange and it is incredibly painful to be "insulted" when you meant nothing wrong. The protection of a screen and a keyboard allows people to be extremely rough, trust me  .
- The simple fact that Mr Pegg gave this explanation makes me even more admirative of his respect for everyone :heart2: . I send him lots of love and support. Sometimes turning down Twitter, Facebook, phone, computer for a few days is a great relief ! (but it's hard, I know)
- Now I hope people will be able to think twice before giving an assaulting answer to a humorous word even if I know it's easy to say.

As a conclusion, I just want to add : Mr Pegg, you're a damn good person, so great it hurts.
